Deák Ferenc Bilingual High School, Szeged, Hungary

The Deák Ferenc Bilingual High School was established in 1988 and it is a modern educational institution whose profile is high-level language teaching and media education. The school is a pioneering educational centre that offers several specializations and its bilingual track prepares students for studies on any are with a solid foundation in English, since they study mathematics, biology and history on the target language. Apart from English, the school offers high-level training in French, German, Italian and Spanish. The school is also an accredited language examination centre of Language Cert, and the teaching staff of the institution are trained examiners. The teaching staff has taken part in Fulbright exchange a and Erasmus+ KA1 projects as well. The school has always had close relations with representatives to Hungary of the United States, and now it seeks to strengthen its European profile as well. The school has 78 teachers and around one thousand students in seven classes per grade, who come not only from the city but from the wider reagion as well. The high school offers a four-year training that prepares students for the state final exam, and have the chance to apply for a term in the United States in Brooks School. Our school also hosts a municipal translation competition every year, and now there are over fifty participants from the entire region who translate a variety of Hungarian texts to English, Spanish, Italian and German.
