Imagine you are a police consultant in London. You are staying in a room with a corpse lying on the ground in front of you. A body has several stabs and one gunshot wound in a head, but it does not have arms. You do not know why. At first you have to look around and find something suspicious, something which nobody could not find before you. What is the first place you start to research?
The body was found at 5 o´clock in the morning by a charlady, she said that name of the dead man was Charles Rowller, it was a friend of her and she would have never hurt him. She also said that he has been working on very secret thing about mathematics for a long time, but she did not know what it was.
There is not evidence where can be his arms and why someone took them. So you start in a room where he was killed, there is a lot of blood, but all walls are oddly empty and clean, actually the whole room is empty, there is nothing but the body. You have your head full of thoughts. You need to take a walk around his house and get any new ideas. First you go to the kitchen where are just two cups of tea, you ask yourself “Why there are two cups of tea, when he lived alone?”. Finally you know he knew his murder, because he let them in for a tea. But there is no DNA on it, you decide to go in an office room. Everything in this place is just so clean and arranged. Expect for the laptop, which is missing. Probably there was some evidence and the murder knew it. What would you do now? You can see some pictures on a table where are Charles and some woman, who was his wife. She committed a suicide few years ago, but nobody knew why. So this is like an investigation of two different cases. But why would she do something like this, she had a perfect life. Or someone forced her to do that, this is a really difficult case.
There is one thing that does not make sence. They were old and they did not have a children, you found out they gave all their lives into mathematics. Why would someone did that, because of the money?
You have no idea what to do next, so you just sit before the picture and start to hypnotize it. After two hours you find yourself sleeping and without any new ideas. But the house is already empty and you are alone in this very lonely, obsolete villa. You have time to explore it only by yourself, first you take a look around the empty room. There is a very weird lamp with different colour of flashbulb, it is an ultra-purple bulb. You switch it on in the empty room and VU À LA, there are secret mathematic calculations on walls. But you unfortunately do not understand it. You have to send them into laboratory as a new evidence, few minutes later they send you an answer. It is a special calculations of formula, who have never solved. When someone solves something as difficult as this they get an award. And there is like finished calculations of this, now you know the motive of the murderer. How to connect it with the the missing arms and the murder?
You go to the charlady to ask her if someone have agreed an appointment with Charles, but she does not know about anybody, she just give you his itinerary from his secret treasure in the office room. There is just one woman for a lunch, but it is too early for a murder. Her name is Scarlet Stone, there is also her number. You decide to call her, she says you that she has time after lunch for the meeting. It is going to be in Primrose Hill park, you have not time to wait, because you fell asleep for a long time.
She is sitting on a bench, she has black hair, glasses, an old-fashioned suit and little bit old shoes, but she is very pretty and smart, how you learned she is a lawyer, good lawyer. She is his daughter! What a surprise, but why would he hide it? She was a teenage mistake and his parents made a secret of it. Because of his future and reputation, but they stayed in contact. When you said her that he was murdered she was like very sad dog, but she did not cry at all, she just proved her aliby. But she knew about someone, who had not a good friendship with him, it was his colleague in work, they had always a dispute about who will first solve some formula, his name is Patrick. But she knew only this information. You have to go to his work to meet this Patrick.
You hate mathematics and you are staying in their world full of numbers. You go to a secretary, she said you that you have to go to fifth floor and wait, because mr. Dunkman has a meeting. So you sit on a floor before his doors, there was not any waiting room, how imperfectly perfect mathematic brains. Mr Dunkman was like Freud without brain, so original. When he let you inside, you could smell his parfume all over the room, he had a few awards on his shelf, which means that he must have won the mathematic competition. You first asked him, where he was in the time of the murder. He said he was in a work all night, he had to solve something very secret, his secretary can prove this, because she had a night shift. But you do not trust him, you asked him about another two questions, first where you can find her and second if he knew something about the formula mr. Rowller was solving. He lied to you, he said no, but you know his body language.
You decide to go to his secretary, she lives few blocks away. When you arrive in her apartment, there is another investigation, she was killed the same night as mr. Rowller. There is only one man who has known them both, mr. Dunkman. He has not an aliby if she is dead. A policeman said that she was killed by mr. Rowller a few minutes before he was killed. You said that you know who killed him and why, but also that we have to hurry, because he could be gone for good. You did not find him in his office, secretary said that he went to the airport since the mathematic competition is in Oslo.
You are finally at the airport, but he is probably gone, there is not any flight to Oslo. What?
But you know exactly where he is, you decide to go to the toilet, he is hiding in one of these cabins. You just start to loudly say: “I know that you killed Charles Rowller and I know why, he has solved the formula and you wanted to be first, but he also has been sleeping with your secretary-fiance, is it correct?” you almost forgot “She decided to tell you the truth and his secret, but you did not trust her, when you asked Charles about his tattoo with every formula, he realized that only one person knew that, so he killed your fiance and you decided to retaliate him, so you killed him and took his arms, which you left in your office and you just used very bad perfume to hide it.”. Now it is all, you called the cops and they took him. Another perfect mathematic is arrested, you can feel the smell of better world now.
